THE TOP END COMMUNITY CARE PROJECT

The Top End Community Care Project is a partnership between Baptist Union of Northern Territory Incorporated (BUNT), affiliated churches and Baptist Care Australia.

The Project is focused on the development of a shared ministry of Christian social justice/action through the provision of relevant community care by the Churches, assisted by BCA members.

The initial goal in 2009 is to identify unmet social needs in the community, along with potential funding sources, through consultation with Federal and Territory government departments, other NFP community organisations and other relevant bodies and individuals.

A Community Development Consultant has been contracted to conduct the consultation, research and planning to consider existing activities and determine what areas of unmet need should be addressed and the funding and operating model that would be required. The Community Development Consultant will be responsible to:

  • Research & propose strategies for the fulfilment of the missional purpose of the Project
  • Communicate with the Churches, BUNT and other key stakeholders
  • Establish networks with other NFP organizations working in the Northern Territory
  • Identify funding opportunities for the ongoing project

A Project Development Committee has been established for the following purposes;

  • Oversight of the work of the Community Development Consultant
  • Communication with BUNT, the Churches, the Baptist Union of Australia, other Baptist agencies and the BCA Board
  • Work with BCA to organise a Community Services Forum
  • Approval of the strategic direction and operating as a strategic “think tank” for the Project
