Our CEO Dr Robyn Sampson joined forces with other community housing leaders, including BaptistCare's Robyn Evans GAICD, at Parliament House in Canberra to advocate for better housing solutions for Australians. This important initiative was coordinated by the Community Housing Industry Association and PowerHousing Australia.
In over 50 meetings with Federal politicians, the group highlighted several key messages: Firstly, research shows that most Australians, regardless of their background or political views, strongly support increased government investment in social and affordable housing. Our community housing sector stands ready to deliver these much-needed homes. We're also advocating for a significant boost to the Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF), which would help create a better housing future for all Australians.
Robyn met with Senator David Pocock (ACT), Lisa Chesters MP (Bendigo), Louise Miller-Frost MP - B App Sc, MA, MPH, MBA, FAICD (Boothby), Senator Dr. Jess Walsh (Victoria), Dr Sophie Scamps MP (Mackellar), and Zoe McKenzie MP (Flinders). She also met with the chief of staff for Gordon Reid MP (Robertson) as part of the coalition's ongoing discussions with parliamentarians.
Robyn also participated in two press conferences in Parliament's Mural Hall - one focused on community housing alongside Senator Pocock, and another with the Stronger Charity Alliance discussing proposed electoral reforms.
Our message is clear: whoever forms the next government must make community housing a top priority. The housing crisis affects us all, and we need decisive action to address it.
