We are pleased to share that Baptist Care Australia (BCA), the national peak body representing Baptist community service organisations, are concluding operations and the BCA team has now joined BaptistCare.
BaptistCare will establish a dedicated national advocacy function within our organisation, led by Robyn Sampson (now former CEO of BCA). Robyn will become BaptistCare’s General Manager, Advocacy within the Strategy and Customer Experience team. Robyn and the BCA team bring deep expertise in government engagement, policy development, sector collaboration, and social advocacy.
This new function will make sure the real experiences of our customers, along with the insights of our frontline teams, are heard more clearly in the national conversation and help shape the changes that matter most.
At the same time, it strengthens our shared mission to support individuals and communities to live with hope, dignity, and fullness of life by combining BCA’s longstanding national policy and advocacy expertise with BaptistCare’s extensive frontline services across aged care, housing, family, and community support.
“This is a natural and important next step for us all. With BCA’s insights and leadership embedded in our new national organisation, we will be positioned to combine and amplify the voices of our customers and communities with the frontline experience of our workforce,” said Charles Moore, CEO of BaptistCare.
“This is a continuation of our theme that scale matters, and we are stronger together. As one organisation, we can enhance our influence to create positive change on the issues that matter most - aged care reform, housing and homelessness, and domestic and family violence,” said Mr Moore.
“With the merger of key state members, there is no longer the same need for a national peak body. The relationships, expertise, and advocacy we’ve built over many years will now be embedded in a national care provider, one that is deeply committed to both service delivery and sector leadership. We believe this new model strengthens our voice, capacity and resources to do even more, as one united voice,” shared Robyn Sampson, CEO of Baptist Care Australia.
As founding members of the national peak as early as 1997, BaptistCare (NSW, ACT, WA), Baptcare (VIC, TAS, SA) and Baptist Care SA already have strong and productive working relationships with the BCA team.
BaptistCare is committed to ensuring the voices of BCA's non-merging members continue to be heard and will establish a new national network of Baptist social services to ensure former BCA members remain connected, have opportunities to collaborate, and maintain a seat at the table for national advocacy and representation.
For both organisations, this is not just a structural change; it is a strategic opportunity. We are creating a national organisation that is grounded in compassion, powered by community, and united in purpose.
As one of Australia's larger integrated care and social service providers, we will continue working together to be a voice for hope for our 38,000 customers and 14,000 valued employees and volunteers.
In gratitude,
Robyn Sampson - BCA outgoing CEO Charles Moore - BaptistCare CEO
